Miguel Alcántara

Miguel Alcántara, born in the Dominican Republic, discovered his passion for art around age 13 when he first encountered encyclopedic books filled with masterpieces. This early fascination quickly grew into a deep admiration for artists like Bosch, Rembrandt, El Greco, and the German Expressionists. Inspired by their work, Miguel began crafting his own artistic voice—a journey that led to numerous exhibitions in biennials across the Dominican Republic. His unique style and vision earned him the Young Talent Prize at the prestigious 85th Salón de Otoño at Casa de Vacas in Madrid.

Artist Statement:

My creative process arises from the need to explore the depth of human experience. In each work, I aim to capture those universal moments of connection, vulnerability, and transformation that we all share, regardless of our backgrounds or contexts. I'm inspired by observing situations that resonate deeply with me and others, as if they reflect a common language. The color palette, textures, and forms I use strive to bring to life those emotional nuances that words sometimes cannot express.
